Janis Maloney, CCS
My experience coaching competitive athletes is what has made me a results oriented trainer. I can help you set realistic fitness goals and guide you through a program designed to meet your needs. I have 12 years experience coaching successful high school field hockey and lacrosse teams, and currently provide sport specific training to individual athletes and teams. In 2004 I became a certified NSPA personal trainer and conditioning specialist, and since then have helped clients achieve a healthier lifestyle. I am also an avid runner and enjoy participating in local races.
Carol Ames, MS, CPT
My career in the field of health and wellness began in 1992 and since that time I have helped individuals improve their fitness through exercise and positive lifestyle changes. I earned a M.S. in Health Promotion Management with a concentration in designing adult fitness programs from Marymount University. I am a certified personal trainer, a certified SPIN and group fitness instructor, and a licensed Wellcoach with a concentration in weight loss and stress management coaching. I have experience in a variety of training modalities, including yoga, Pilates, heart rate training, boot camp, functional training, and aquatic exercise, which helps keep workouts interesting, effective, and fun for my clients.
Jim Burford, CPT
I started my career in personal training after having studied and trained in the Japanese Martial Art, Taijutsu, since 1994. I achieved my 3rd degree Black Belt in 2006. My background in learning and teaching martial arts at the Scott Teague Academy of Martial Arts in Olney, Maryland taught me the importance of practicing sound and effective techniques, and the critical role consistency and dedication play in achieving goals.
I hold the CPT certification with NSPA. I have worked as a personal trainer with Evolution Fitness Systems since 2004. I strive to provide quality personalized training programs tailored to fit the needs of each individual client.
Karen Harris, CPT
I had already been strength training for many years by the time I became a client of EFS in 2004. Their training techniques are what enabled me to reach a higher level of strength and stamina. They gave me a smarter, healthier way to work out, and helped me reach my goal of running a marathon. I knew from first hand experience how effective their training methods were, so I decided to get certified myself in order to help others achieve their goals! I obtained my CPT through the NSPA in December 2006. In addition to running marathons I also compete in sprint triathlons.
Anna McBain, Pilates Instructor, CPT
My career in the health and fitness industry began in 2006 when I started my training as a Peak Pilates Certified Instructor. In 2009 I completed the program obtaining the Comprehensive Certification for Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and other small equipment. I have taught Pilates privately and in small or large group settings at a number of studios and health clubs in the Metro area and I believe that the Pilates system of exercise can benefit all fitness levels and abilities. In 2007, I became a Certified Personal Trainer through NSPA and shortly afterward joined the EFS team as both a Personal Trainer and Pilates Instructor. I really enjoy working with clients to reach their fitness goals through either Pilates training and/or personal training and feel the unique environment at the EFS Studio provides a great opportunity for clients to achieve better health and fitness.
Favorite quote from Joseph Pilates is, “Physical fitness is the first requisite to happiness.”
As a competitive runner and sprint triathlete I have always been active, but needed additional inspiration to work on my strength and overall conditioning. Janis Maloney, my trainer, worked with me to achieve all my fitness goals and then some. I feel stronger, more fit and look forward to my early morning workouts. A byproduct of my workouts has been improved confidence and a re-defined fitness outlook.
